I worked with Studio One, an agency located in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, to plan and produce a range of designs for Exchange Station, a workspace in Liverpool. The project involved the creation of a fresh website, the design of a corporate brochure, and the graphic enhancement of the meeting rooms.
Challenge
This project was a significant test of my skills because all I had to work with was an old printed brochure in order to create the initial design concepts. This limitation challenged me to develop a solution that could connect the brand with the new design proposals. The diagonal lines from the logo mark helped tie everything together and can be appreciated throughout the project.
Logo Adjustment
Although I suggested a logo adjustment based on the golden ratio, it was not implemented. The purpose was to create a more balanced and aesthetically pleasing logo mark composition.
Web Prototype
A prototype was designed using Adobe XD to organise the web content into sections and pages, applying a mobile-first approach to ensure the design and the content are prioritised effectively and create a more user-friendly, efficient, and accessible digital experience.
Web Development
The client had a specific requirement for a WordPress website that was flexible and could be built in a short amount of time. Additionally, I was interested in testing other visual builders to achieve better web performance. To meet both these requirements, I experimented with Elementor as a visual builder and Hello as a template. This streamlined the web development process and saved time compared to traditional coding methods.
Brochure Design
A brochure was designed along with the development of the website. The purpose of the brochure was to showcase the values and leading features of the building and to promote the workspace's availability. The brochure layout was created using the angular shapes of The Exchange Station's logo mark, which were utilised as image containers and complementary elements on different pages.
Meeting Rooms
As a part of the Exchange Station's image makeover initiative, I drew inspiration from the logo's diagonal lines and the colours of the newly added furniture. As a result, I created lively glass manifestations and geometric wall art pieces for the meeting rooms. My aim was to design a fresh and attractive space for the visitors to enjoy.
Project Outcome
Both the website and the designs implemented in the meeting rooms have been well received by the client and users of the co-working space, including tenants and employees. They have affirmed that the visual improvements have elevated common areas, leading to better performance of the activities carried out in different spaces.
